Pluto in Aquarius - Should I be freaking out?

This blog post can be summed up into one sentence: Pluto moving into Aquarius is a big deal, but the internet is making it out to be way more dramatic than it truly is.

Depending on what type of astrology content you consume, you might be getting mixed signals about Pluto moving into Aquarius. On one hand, I have seen many well-established astrologers speak very factually about this shift. But, I have also seen many people across social media (it is unclear how many of these people are truly astrologers) talk about Pluto moving into Aquarius as this highly impactful, highly individualized, once in a lifetime experience, which just isn’t entirely true. Pluto takes 248 years to complete one lap around the zodiac, which means, yes, this ingress into Aquarius will never happen again in our lifetime. We won’t see Pluto move into most of the signs of the zodiac in our lifetime, and Pluto hasn’t been in Aquarius since the 1780s and 1790s, so on the surface, this does feel like a very large transit. But the reality is that Pluto is a generational planet, and its impact in a certain sign has more weight for the collective than it does for us individually. We have already seen this in small ways, like the increase of AI in all different areas of our lives, but these impacts will continue to develop for us as a society over the next two decades as Pluto slowly moves through the sign. And, just to reiterate, Pluto isn’t even done with its time in Capricorn yet. We still have one more retrograde back into Capricorn. Pluto reaches 02º06’ Aquarius before it turns retrograde on May 2. Pluto will retrograde back to 29º38’ Capricorn, at which point it turns direct on October 11 and travels back into Aquarius on November 19. We can see that the Capricorn story isn’t entirely done yet, and though I’m sure many of us are eager to move on, it’s still important to give ourselves time to truly process all that Pluto has done during its time in Capricorn before we dive into an entirely different storyline.

All of that said, how can you truly tell if this ingress into Aquarius will be personally impactful for you? The most important thing to consider right now is the DEGREES of your planets or angles. The degrees of the zodiac that are MOST impacted this year by Pluto’s time in Aquarius are the early degrees of the fixed signs. This is specifically 00º–04º of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius. This is because these are the signs of the zodiac that are in hard aspect with Aquarius. Leo sits opposite Aquarius, and the opposition is the hardest of all the aspects, making it a very challenging transit. So, if you have planets, especially personal planets, or angles within the first 4 degrees of Leo, this will be significant for you. The signs Taurus and Scorpio make a square aspect with Aquarius, which is also a hard aspect but a little easier than the opposition. If you have planets, especially personal planets, or angles within the first 4 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio, this transit will be impactful for you. Lastly, anyone with planets or angles within the first 4 degrees of Aquarius will also be impacted by this transit, as Pluto will be in conjunction with those planets.

Pluto transits to our natal planets can be very challenging, as they are really drawn out due to Pluto's slow movements. These transits will last for years, and Pluto will likely cross over that planet 2-3 times due to its retrogrades. It’s important to remember that these transits are once-in-a-lifetime transits, and there are a lot of people who will never have a major Pluto transit in their lifetime. This transit, depending on the planet involved, will challenge you in ways you’ve never been challenged before, but the growth will be very transformational. If you are someone who is impacted by Pluto right now based on a conjunction, square, or opposition to one of your natal planets or angles, I highly encourage you to lean into these challenges as much as you can and see the opportunity in this hardship. As someone who is currently in a Pluto/Moon transit, it has been both beautifully transformational and also very difficult. The intensity is dull, though, so don’t expect to be in the thick of it every single day. There will be days where you feel at your worst and days where you feel at your best.

One last thing I'd like to mention - we normally have many transits taking place at one time. Some of these transits will be long like a Pluto transit but others will be short and only last a few days. It is important to remember that a lot of these transits will be good and many will be not so good. Things aren't usually 100% bad or 100% good, there is usually a lot of gray area, so if you are someone who feels stressed about a big Pluto transit or some other major transit, just remember things aren't always cut and dry or black or white. There is a ton of variation based on your chart, your planets and how that is all impacting you.

All in all I really empower you all to use your judgement when consuming content that feels inflammatory or overly dramatic because it isn't always as significant as it might seem...

Xoxo,

Lauren
